SCAVENGER HUNT BRINGS SPORTS DAY TO THE OFFICE

TLDR: From school sports days to the modern workplace, healthy competition and teamwork go hand in hand. Inclusive, activity-led scavenger hunts recreate that balance - encouraging friendly competition, confidence and collaboration while ensuring everyone can take part, have fun and feel included, as delivered by Big Smoke Events.

Now, some of you might be a bit older than me, some of you not, but I remember sports day at primary school as being “all inclusive”. Unfortunately, this didn’t mean unlimited sweets and fizzy drinks all day; it meant being part of a team.
It meant everyone could enjoy the day regardless of their sporting prowess. It was, as my teachers would hammer home, “the taking part that counts”. But maybe they only told me that because I couldn’t stop my egg from rolling off my spoon. The winners won, but everyone else had just as much fun.
Things changed with secondary school.
It suddenly became ok to want to win. In fact, we were now actively encouraged to run the fastest, throw the furthest, jump the highest – all for your team’s glory. And some much-needed street cred.
And that’s pretty much how life then turns out to be once you hit the working treadmill. You often need to develop a competitive streak while being a team player to get work done.
This skill, fine-tuned in our formative years on the sports field, shines through with our corporate group team building scavenger hunts. Having a healthy, competitive approach not only adds to the fun of the challenges, but most often it’s the most competitive teams who really get the best out of the day! But like those early sports days, trying and taking part really is what it’s all about. Our scavenger hunts aren’t tailored just for the athletic. There is a huge variety of challenges to suit everyone. One person’s egg and spoon race is another ‘s wheelbarrow race. Our scavenger hunts require you to have fun, be silly and most importantly, not take things too seriously.
Approaching the scavenger hunt challenges as you would a game of rounders, a new client presentation or an on-the-job training session undoubtedly helps you as an individual build confidence and skill, but just like sports day, it’s taking part that really counts.
