Top 10 Event Ideas to Welcome Employees Back to the Office

So that’s it... back to the office and back to those larger tea runs. Can we get a hell yeahhh!! Okay okay, work might not be fun for everyone but being back in our team and feeling supported by your colleague’s physical presence is pretty exciting (and a bit odd to be honest!).

It’s important to be able to finally bring the team back together, especially when it comes to new starters. Another positive element of returning to the office is the structure we’re about to get back. Working from home certainly has its perks and no doubt will still be a large feature in many workplaces, but being able to communicate easily with others in person again will be a huge positive!

It’s time to toast covid restrictions goodbye and celebrate, so you better believe we’ve got some great ideas to get the back-to-work party started.

Let’s welcome employees back to the office with these great ideas that are bound to get the conversation flowing...

1. Group Activity - Get together!

First up is The Big Smoke Scavenger Hunt - voted ‘The BEST Team Day Around ’by InStyle magazine, this is one of our most popular team events. And let us tell you why... It's mega fun! The hunt is tailored to you and your team and is basically a race against the clock! You all compete in small teams to complete 30 challenges; these include solving clues, finding items, taking photos and hilarious action videos.

It’s a sure-fire winner for any team and makes the perfect back-to-work game so your business can celebrate everyone being back together plus, it’s outdoors AND a fun way for any newbies to get to know everyone.

2. Encourage socialising

Another great way to get the team feeling relaxed and excited about the future is to organise a fun evening for the team to let their hair down. It’s no surprise that socialising helps improve our mental and emotional health, so a get-together is good for our mind and our soul! We love SAMA Bankside for this type of get-together - they serve up great cocktails, have a delicious menu (British modern food with a Caribbean twist - yum!) and it’s in a central location.

Another great way to find cool collaborative spaces where you can have fun and host meetings is by using VenueScanner - once you start using this awesome venue search platform, there’s no going back!

3. Have a laugh

Brace yourself for a right laugh with our The Bingo Challenge Show - this twist on Bingo is such a fabulous way to get your teams interacting again and can be held at any office space or venue of your choice! You’ll need your eyes and ears on the prize for this one and we bet the whole office will be buzzing to get involved!

4. Who are ya

Who doesn’t love a good pub quiz? Get into teams, serve up the beers and make sure there’s nibbles a plenty and then we will top it all off by creating your very own Personalised Trivia Quiz. This is a great way for everyone to get to know new colleagues better and to find out things about old colleagues. It’s a right hoot!

5. Get creative

It’s always fun to drink cocktails and even more fun when you get to make them! So why not host a cocktail night in the office? Once you’ve wrapped up at 5 then welcome in the legends over at Mix & Match to host a memorable cocktail night. We bet this will be a winner!

6. Add some magic

Looking for something with a difference? Why not sprinkle a bit of magic over your next event by incorporating a Private Magic Show with Tom Brace? Getting a magician to turn up to your event (especially one as good as Tom!) will only result in oohs and ahhs and is guaranteed to get everyone talking.

7. Get Active

It’s really important to stay active, so our Ping Pong Challenge Show is the perfect fusion of fitness and fun - this is another favourite event that we offer and it requires no ping pong experience which means, everyone and anyone can give it a go.

It’s hosted live by Ade Leigh from Ping Pong Fight Club, and features an action-packed and entertaining 45 minutes of fun ping pong challenges, trivia, music and tongue-in-cheek game show banter. We might be biased but this is honestly such a laugh and can be hosted indoor, outdoor or even remotely!

8. Healthy Competition

Take your team to the races without actually going to them thanks to our Horse Race unique game! This 1 hour event is hosted live via zoom by one of our team and is a fully soundtracked event with music, commentary, and awesome graphics. Simple, competitive, social, fun and with lots of strategy thrown in the mix!

9. Put Wellness First

Why not host a ‘Wellness Wednesday’ at the office? Kickstart your team's day with some yoga, meditating and a healthy breakfast - this is a great way to set them up for the day and can have some really beneficial outcomes. So much so we bet you’ll want to make this a monthly event!

10. Boost morale

It might come as no surprise that people’s confidence has definitely dropped through the pandemic, lockdowns and working from home so why not find a way to boost it! In the first week back in the office, host a really yummy lunch and play this self-esteem boosting group activity: first, everyone writes their own name down on a piece of paper. Then the others must write underneath the name what they admire about the person This can be anything – from their personality to something they’ve managed to achieve, or how well they make a cup of tea! This little mood-boosting game will easily put a smile on your team's face!

So there you have it, a little injection of fun to ease everyone back to normal will 100% be welcomed. It’s been a strange time and sometimes the best medicine is a good laugh. Wishing you all a safe and happy return to work!
